Alan Rader
Partner
Alan Rader is a partner in O’Melveny’s Century City office, a member of the Business Trial and Litigation Practice, and a member of
The American Lawyer's 2004 "Litigation Department of the Year." As one of Firm’s senior litigators and trial lawyers, Alan has provided counsel and representation to a diverse mix of clients, ranging from major entertainment conglomerates, a major oil company, a major aerospace company, a major book retailer, several major rental-car companies, and major public utilities, to small and middle market businesses, individual movie producers and directors, real estate developers, and all manner of entrepreneurs. Alan’s areas of practice have been correspondingly diverse; though he has concentrated on entertainment and intellectual-property matters, he has also handled major antitrust, environmental, utility rate setting, and mass tort litigations, as well as a wide range of contract and other business disputes.
Prior to joining O’Melveny, Alan worked for over ten years on what some might call the other side of the street, representing our country’s poorest citizens at Legal Services programs in both California and Massachusetts. Alan focused on class-action and impact litigation, and also served as Executive Director of two of the most respected Legal Services organizations, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Cambridge and Somerville Legal Services, and the Los Angeles-based Western Center on Law and Poverty. Alan has continued his commitment to equal access to justice through the O’Melveny
pro bono program, most notably by handling the successful federal court constitutional challenge to California’s Proposition 187.
