Portia Ku is a partner in O’Melveny’s Shanghai and Silicon Valley offices and a member of the Transactions Department. Her practice focuses on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity financings. She has represented U.S. underwriters and leading foreign companies in Asia with respect to securities offerings and associated pre-IPO restructuring, as well as mergers and acquisitions. She has had significant experience in cross-border transactions particularly in representing Fortune 500 companies such as General Motors and Dow Chemical with respect to their direct investments in the Greater China region. Her broad corporate experience includes representing the companies, including Nobao Renewable Energy, China Kanghui, 7 Days Inn, Giant Interactive, Wuxi Pharmatech, Acorn International, Mindray International, and Besunyen, LifeTech Scientific, Christine, as well as the underwriters in the Tudou.com, Concord Medical Services Holdings, Chemspec, China Sunergy, CNOOC, Comtech, TravelSky Technology, and Sohu.com in NYSE, Nasdaq and HKEx initial public offerings, as well as establishing their stock-exchange listings.

Portia worked for the largest law firm in Taiwan, where she gained significant experience with respect to foreign investments in Taiwan and large-scale international procurement projects.
