Yoji Maeda is Head of O'Melveny's Tokyo office. His broad practice area covers business trial and litigation, labor and employment matters and M&A.
Yoji litigates and arbitrates complex and/or international cases both in Japan and America. Yoji also has been involved in structuring litigation strategy for mass tort cases and other complex cases.
Yoji's focus in his employment and labor law practice is to advise non-Japanese clients on various issues under Japanese laws, and litigate labor disputes before Japanese courts and labor commissions.
His broad practice covers M&A and private equity transactions, focused on inbound cross-border investments. Yoji has a wealth of experience and has been considered one of the leading legal advisors on M&A transactions in Japan over the last decade.
Yoji has been recommended on General Corporate Practice and Dispute Resolution in
Asialaw Leading Lawyers every year since 2006. He was also recommended for his work on dispute resolution in the 2011 and 2012 editions of
The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and in the 2011 edition of
Chambers Asia.
A native and citizen of Japan, Yoji received his LL.B. degree in Law from the Faculty of Law, Tokyo University in 1988. He also received his LL.M. degree from the University of Virginia Law School in 1994. He passed the pre-bar examination in 1987 and received his law degree from the Legal Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Japan in 1990. He is admitted to practice in Japan and New York.
